Lakewood Ranch's ever-growing Waterside Place is adding yet another new business to its roster: Duck Donuts, which opens Saturday, Jan. 11. The popular national franchise is based out of North Carolina, and the new Waterside Place location is owned by Lakewood Ranch resident George Winudas, who will operate the store with his four children.

“We are proud to be local Lakewood ranch residents and to be family-operated," Winudas says. "It is truly our family serving yours.”

Duck Donuts specializes in hot, fresh cake doughnuts that can be customized by way of flavored drizzles and toppings. But if you're not feeling creative, never fear: the menu has plenty of combination recommendations called "fan favorites," like coffee cake, maple bacon and peanut butter. 

To celebrate Saturday's grand opening, Duck Donuts' first guest in line will receive a dozen doughnuts for free every month for a year. The next 50 guests will receive a voucher for two dozen donuts and a bucket of coffee, to be used on a future visit.

Duck Donuts opens Saturday, Jan. 11, and will serve doughnuts seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1580 Lakefront Drive, Sarasota. For more information, click here.
