New breakfast and lunch spot Louie's Bistro will open tomorrow, July 29 in the Wellen Park. Named for co-owner Jennifer Pope's late father, Louie's will feature popular menu items from Pope's other establishment, Venice Island Coffee, including omelets, sandwiches and Taylor pork Jersey rolls.
"We love Wellen Park, and our family is excited to be part of this growing community," Pope wrote in a press release about the restaurant's opening. "Food has always been a passion in our family."
In addition to the Venice Island Coffee favorites, Louie's Bistro will also offer Southern-inspired family recipes like biscuits and gravy and hashbrown casserole.
"We make everything in house," Pope said.
The restaurant will also cater to dietary restrictions by offering vegetarian and gluten-free options, like the Corey breakfast sandwich, which is vegetarian and named after Pope's husband and co-owner, Corey Pope.
"We're looking forward to bringing a new breakfast place to the area and offering something different than not everyone serves," Pope said.
The Popes aim to create a cozy environment—complete with family photos of Louie—in which the community will feel comfortable gathering to enjoy coffee from Tampa-based roaster Java Planet. The coffee bar will be open for orders whether you intend to stay for a meal or not.
Louie's Bistro will join a growing number of commercial businesses in Wellen Park like boutiques, restaurants and professional offices in the community's downtown. It will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Louie's Bistro is located at 12275 Mercado Drive, Venice. For more information, call the Wellen Park Welcome Center at (941) 229-7124.
