Celebrate food, fun and 4-H on Saturday, June 4, at the Fruitville Road Gecko’s Grill & Pub, where the thriving restaurant chain will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

“We are inviting our friends to come out and join us so we can say thank you to our teams and our community, enjoy some barbecue and help us celebrate,” co-owner Mike Gowan said in a press release. Gowan and his business partner Mike Quillen teamed up years ago to launch the first Gecko's. The chain now boasts six locations in the region.

“We started Gecko’s as a little neighborhood bar and pub, focusing on fresh fare and with a strong hospitality quotient. Our guests are our friends and our bosses, and our employees are our heroes. We believe in the community, and we live, work and play here too,” Quillen said.

The event welcomes all ages with activities like cornhole, face-painting and even 4-H baby animals. There will be performances from the 4-H Clogging Clovers, Music Compound and Kettle of Fish, as well. Tickets are $15 for adults and include plenty of barbecue, a commemorative T-shirt and a raffle ticket. Tickets for children under 12 are $5.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Sarasota County 4-H Foundation, a volunteer-run organization that raises money for scholarships for graduating 4-H high schoolers.

The event takes place 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Gecko's Grill & Pub, 351 N. Cattleman Road, Sarasota. For more info, visit the restaurant's website.
