A national chain that combines restaurant, wine tasting room and wine retail shop is opening its first location in Sarasota this summer. Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant will open in Fruitville Commons, the new commercial and residential development located along Fruitville Road, just east of I-75.

Cooper's Hawk was started in 2005. The company sources wines from around the world, and pours them and sells them from its tasting rooms, which are spread out around the country. The Sarasota location will be the company's 12th in Florida.

In addition to its wines, Cooper's Hawk serves a full restaurant menu, with everything from sashimi and egg rolls to braised short ribs, potato-crusted scallops, pastas, burgers and sandwiches. It also offers wine club memberships, which give people access to limited-production blends and invitations to special events.

Cooper's Hawk is looking to hire 140 employees across all types of jobs, and is holding hiring fairs on Wednesday, April 28, and Wednesday, May 12.
