Local Cinco De Mayo Celebrations Start This Weekend

Enjoy a margarita (or two) at one of these festive events in Sarasota and Bradenton.

Cinco De Mayo falls on a Wednesday this year, but this list includes local celebrations happening all week long:

Sarasota Cinco De Mayo Festival 2021

Join Florida Seafood Magazine for a Mexican-American celebration at downtown's J.D. Hamel Park at the corner of Gulfstream Avenue and Main Street. Festivities will include food vendors selling meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes with Mexican flavors. Desserts and drinks will also be sold. This festival runs 4-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

This new taco joint in Venice will host its first Cinco De Mayo event. Food, drink and tequila specials will be offered all day. Extended outdoor seating will be available. Entertainment by DJ Accardi will begin at 5 p.m. The party begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Admission is free.

This lively Mexican restaurant on Main Street will offer lunch specials and live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then host a festive block party from 4 p.m. to midnight. Enjoy music with DJ Nando inside the restaurant, then take to the streets with live music and food and drink stations set out all the way to Palm Avenue. Food specials will include El Melvin's new street taco enterprise, Taqueria Azul, as well as street corn, guacamole and chips and salsa. Margaritas and beers specials offered throughout the day.
