Looking for a midday taco pick-me-up? Check out El Melvin Cocina Mexicana, which this week reopened for weekday lunches after previously being limited to serving at dinnertime only during the week.

The restaurant opened last year in the space that had housed Two Senoritas for decades, serving tacos, burritos, sopas, fajitas and tortas. It had limited its hours because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but has now extended them on weekdays. Lunch is now served 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday and brunch and lunch are served 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Dinner is served 5-10 p.m. daily.

In addition to reopening for lunch, El Melvin is also widening its happy hour offerings. That's good news, because El Melvin's drinks are alluring. The smoky-spicy-sweet Mezcal Made Me Do It, in particular, is perfect. Happy hour is now available 3-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
