For two weeks, starting Monday, June 15, several restaurants and food businesses in Sarasota are offering special deals, dishes and drinks to celebrate Pride Month, which takes place each June.

Participating eateries so far include Sage (which will reopen next Tuesday, June 16, after being shuttered for months because of the COVID-19 pandemic), Reyna's Taqueria, Mellow Mushroom, Umbrellas 1296Bavaro's Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria, Leaf & Lentil and more. Some restaurants are offering a free Pride-themed cocktail, others are serving a free appetizer and some are offering discounts on dishes. (Other businesses that don't serve food are also offering deals on products and services. For a full list of participating restaurants and businesses, click here.)

The program is a project of Project Pride SRQ Inc., a new nonprofit that works to link existing LGBTQ organizations and the Sarasota community. Other Pride Month events include a live-streamed concert that starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, and a car parade that will head down Main Street at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. Visit the Project Pride website for a complete list of activities.
