As VP of Care Delivery and Innovation, Katy Wendel has transformed CAN Community Health into a bold industry disruptor, leaving a lasting mark through her visionary leadership.
For over 30 years, CAN Community Health has remained a beacon in the HIV care and treatment world, emboldened by a mission to expand access to comprehensive services through innovative prevention, treatment, and support.
“The most meaningful healthcare innovation happens when we listen closely to the people facing the greatest barriers and design care around what they actually need,” said Wendel.
She has driven innovation at CAN through initiatives including integrating AI tools and piloting VR headsets in local clinics to enhance readiness and expand educational resources. She has championed online PrEP services, increasing access to prevention across the United States.
With support from the Susan Terry Foundation, Wendel launched the “Nourish to Flourish” pilot to address food insecurity, recognizing that meeting basic nutritional needs helps patients stay engaged in care and improve their health.
Her leadership strengthens equity, expands reach, and builds sustainable models for care.
