For more than two decades, Heather Todd and Katy McBrayer-Lynch have dedicated themselves to changing the lives of at-risk youth through their work with Teen Court of Sarasota, Inc.. What began as a life-changing connection between a struggling teenager and a young client coordinator evolved into a partnership that has helped shape one of Florida’s most respected youth diversion programs and a nationally recognized model for restorative justice, accountability, and hope.

Heather Todd began working with Teen Court in her early twenties, where she first met Katy when she entered the program as a teenager. Even then, Heather saw potential in young people others often overlooked. Her passion for intervention, mentorship, and second chances became the foundation of her life’s work. Around the same time Katy joined the Board of Directors 12 years ago, Heather stepped into the role of CEO, and together they helped lead Teen Court into a new era of growth and community impact.

Under Heather’s leadership, Teen Court expanded far beyond a traditional diversion program into a lifeline for youth and families through mentorship, leadership development, prevention initiatives, and community partnerships. Katy, now a successful luxury real estate advisor and past President of the Board, brings both professional leadership and lived experience to the organization’s mission. Having personally experienced the impact caring adults can have on a young person’s future, she remains deeply committed to helping vulnerable youth realize their worth and potential.

Together, Heather and Katy regularly speak throughout the community, sharing Teen Court’s mission with youth volunteers, program participants, civic organizations, donors, and foundations. Their message is rooted in one powerful belief: no child should ever be defined by their worst mistake. Through their leadership, compassion, and advocacy, they have helped impact thousands of young lives while inspiring communities nationwide to rethink how they support and invest in their youth.
