Margie’s Market by All Faiths Food Bank: The Faces of Ending Hunger

Margie’s Market, a new initiative by All Faiths Food Bank that opened in March 2026, is addressing food insecurity in Sarasota’s historic Newtown community.
Located inside the Goodwill Manasota Community Resource Center at 1781 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, the market offers grocery-style shopping where neighbors can choose foods that reflect their dietary needs, cultural preferences and household priorities – at no cost. The space also serves as a hub for wraparound support, connecting visitors with social services and community resources.
Longstanding social, health and economic inequities in Newtown have created barriers to food, healthcare, housing and transportation. More than 20% of residents experience food insecurity, and nearly 29% of families live below the poverty line.
“Margie’s Market represents an innovative step forward in our mission to end hunger,” said All Faiths Food Bank President and CEO Nelle S. Miller.
Generously funded by Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation for its first year, community support will help sustain the market and expand its impact in the years ahead.
