The mission of WBTT is to produce professional theatre that promotes African American history and experience, engages a broad base of patrons and audiences, supports the development of a dynamic group of aspiring artists, and builds self-esteem in youth of color.
Now in its 26th season, WBTT continues to train and mentor aspiring talent while presenting powerful productions that honor the African American experience.
- Mainstage productions run all season at WBTT’s downtown Sarasota campus, alongside a variety of community outreach programs.
- Young artists collaborate with established professionals to develop and showcase their talents on stage and in outreach performances.
- Education programs include Jazzlinks and Rhythm & Tales, as well as Stage of Discovery—a free five-week summer theatre program for minority youth.
