2025 Nonprofits in Bloom: Harvest House

Amanda’s Story: From Rock Bottom to Rebuilding Lives.

Harvest House in collaboration with Sarasota Magazine Content Studio By Sarasota Magazine Content Studio September 1, 2025

When Amanda walked through the doors of Harvest House for the first time, she was 19, homeless, and deep in addiction. College was a memory. Her future was a question mark.

“I had no job skills, no life skills. I wasn’t sure how to be a person in the world anymore,” Amanda said.

She gave everything to addiction. But what she found at Harvest House was a new way of living, one with dignity, direction, and hope. Amanda completed the program, relapsed, and came back. That second time, something clicked. This time, she stayed. She listened. She healed. And she grew.

Years later, Amanda returned again, but not as a client. She now leads the women’s residential recovery program, offering the same compassion, structure, and lived experience that once saved her life.

“I get to sit with women who remind me of stages I’ve walked through myself,” she said. “I tell them, ‘Your ceiling should be my floor. Dream bigger.’”

Amanda’s story is powerful, but it’s not rare. Because of generous donors, transformation is happening at Harvest House every single day. Help Harvest House continue saying “yes” to people like Amanda. Your gift provides shelter, recovery, and a path forward.
