The mission of WBTT is to produce professional theatre that promotes African American history and experience, engages a broad base of patrons and audiences, supports the development of a dynamic group of aspiring artists, and builds self-esteem in youth of color. As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary Season we are grateful for the many opportunities to train and mentor aspiring artists and youth and provide a platform for productions that celebrate the African American experience.
-
Mainstage productions run all season at our downtown Sarasota campus, and we provide numerous community outreach programs throughout the year.
-
Collaborating with established professionals, young artists hone and showcase their talents on WBTT’s mainstage and in community outreach productions.
-
Jazzlinks and Rhythm & Tales, WBTT’s touring education programs, have served thousands of students in the past nine years.
-
Stage of Discovery, a free five-week summer musical theatre program serving minority youth, culminates in a full-scale musical production.
-
Other offerings include a Young Artists Program, a New Play-wrights Showcase, and WBTT Voices, our free community forums.
