Meals on Wheels of Manatee was founded in 1972 with the initial purpose of providing nutritious meals to the elderly and disabled residents of Manatee County. As community needs evolved over the years, the organization grew in response. “PLUS” was eventually added to the name as a way of representing the many other services offered.

Think of Meals on Wheels PLUS as a gigantic umbrella. Underneath the umbrella are all the essential programs made possible by Meals on Wheels PLUS including: 

• Home-delivered Meals 

• The Food Bank of Manatee 

• Daybreak Adult Day Center

• Friendship Dining Centers
