Bookstore1 Sarasota Zoom Book Launch with Reggie Williams

Sept. 8

NFL football legend Williams, a Sarasota resident (interviewed in our magazine here), will virtually visit Bookstore1 Sarasota for a launch of his new memoir, Resilient by Nature, at 7 p.m. The book follows his life story from the football field to Disney executive, facing great challenges with great determination along the way. The event is free, but registration is required. Signed copies of the book will be available for curbside pickup or mail after the event. Pre-order copies here.

The Players Centre for Performing Arts Farewell Tours

Sept. 3-4, 5-6, 10-11 and 12-13

Get ready to sing “So Long, Dearie,” with perhaps a tear or two in your eyes, as the longtime community theater departs its home on North Tamiami Trail—the end of an era. One-hour tours available for $10; the bar will be open, and you can take souvenir snapshots or visit your favorite portion of the venerable building. Some surprises in store, too; call (941) 365-2494 or go to theplayers.org to learn more and sign up.

Diego & Frida: A Visual History

Sept. 5-Jan. 3

A new exhibit at St. Petersburg’s Dali Museum provides an inside look at the lives of that famous artist-couple, Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. More than 60 reproductions of rare historical photographs will offer a personal view of their world—their families, careers, relationship and more. Other exhibits, related to Salvador Dali, also on view. Check it all out at thedali.org before heading north.
