Just an update to our earlier post on Asolo Rep’s 2020-21 season announcement: the company has taken one of its originally scheduled plays out of the season lineup.

Trayf, a play about the friendship of two young Hasidic Jews by Lindsay Joelle, has been canceled due to budgetary concerns due to the COVID-19 virus. Producing artistic director Michael Donald Edwards said, “We realized we needed to remove Trayf from the schedule to ensure that we could meet the production needs of the other seven plays on the season roster.”

He added that Asolo Rep remains open to the possibility of replacing the show with a different production in the Cook Theatre during the upcoming season, and also to producing Trayf at a future date.

The season is slated to open Nov. 18 with a production of Billy Elliot: The Musical. For more information, visit asolorep.org.
