Sarasota Music Festival
Sixty talented students, 40 top faculty artists, 51 years of providing classical concerts to Sarasota audiences each summer. The annual festival is back, opening its schedule of concerts with a tribute to the late, longtime faculty member Joseph Silverstein June 9 at Holley Hall. The Fabulous Lipitones
Time for some summer fun with this comedy by Mark St. Germain and John Markus, about a barbershop quartet that finds itself with a most unexpected new tenor after the loss of a longtime member. Kids’ Summer Beach Runs
You know it’s officially summer when the kids’ summer beach runs begin, Tuesday evening at Siesta public beach and Wednesday evening at Brohard Beach in Venice. A $1 registration fee gets everybody an ice-pop and ribbon, and a free T-shirt after you complete four runs. (You can register on site: parksonline.scgov.net.) Architects, musicians, sculptors, the Longboat Key Center for the Arts director, New College’s vice president, the Bishop Planetarium director, a communications counsel and the director of Any Given Child take center stage at the next 10X10—each presenting 10 slides that speak to their creative process.
