As local residents continue to recover from the impacts of the recent hurricanes, local organizations are stepping up to provide food to those in need this week.

As local residents recover from the ongoing impacts of back-to-back hurricanes and prepare for Thanksgiving, access to food resources becomes critical. Local organizations play a vital role in providing relief, including holiday meal distributions.

We've put together a quick list of information on where and how to access food during this season of recovery and giving. We'll keep it updated as we learn more.

Turkey Giveaway

Monday, Nov. 25, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Fred Glossie Atkins Park, 2431 Washington Court, Sarasota

There are 100 turkeys for giveaways; first come first served.

Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway Drive-Through

Monday, Nov. 25, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee, 811 23rd Ave. E, Bradenton

All Faiths Food Bank

Turkey distributions have passed, but find food pantry locations and times serving Sarasota, Laurel/Nokomis, Venice, North Port, Englewood and Arcadia, by clicking here

Plus, snack bags for kids are now available at Sarasota County libraries in Englewood, Venice, Sarasota and North Port.

Goodwill Manasota's Thanksgiving Giveaway & Veterans Resource Fair

Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Goodwill Corporate Office, 2705 51st Ave. E. Bradenton

Giveaways include turkeys, sides, and gifts to help families prepare for the season. The Veterans Resource Fair will also connect veterans and their families with essential resources from the VA, FLDVA, SRQ Vets, and more. Reserve your free spot here.

Thanksgiving Give Back Event

Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Robin's Apartments in Bradenton, 2303 1st St., Bradenton

The public is invited to take part in a free Thanksgiving holiday meal. Provided by the nonprofit One Stop Cares, the event will also offer information about career opportunities and access to jobs.
