Vegetarians and vegans, take note: A new pizzeria specializing in plant-based food has opened. Lucile Pizza & Wine Bar, the much-anticipated new restaurant from Lila chef Ryan Boeve, opened on Main Street last month.

The restaurant extends Lila's emphasis on creative vegetable-forward dishes, with a number of vegan pies, sides and salads. The "Spicy Peppers" pizza ($19), for example, uses cashew "mozzarella" and a cashew-based black garlic cream instead of cheese, and comes topped with shishito peppers, red bell peppers, fermented jalapeños and Calabrian chilies—which together provide both a sweet touch and plenty of heat.

"The Macho" pizza ($19), meanwhile, apes your typical meat lover's pie, but with mushroom and coconut "bacon" and plant-based "pepperoni" and "sausage." The "Truffled Mushroom" ($20) features more cashew "cheese," plus roasted mushrooms, kale, lemon and a truffle-scented cashew cream.

Feeling creative? You can also put together your own custom pie, and pork sausage, pork and beef pepperoni and mozzarella are available. On the side, you'll find shredded Brussels sprouts ($8) and fried artichokes ($9), which come served with an addictive black garlic and truffle spread. Pizza night is right around the corner. Maybe try someplace new.

Lucile Pizza & Wine Bar is located at 1660 Main St., Sarasota, and is open 3-9:30 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. For more info, call (941) 330-0101 or visit the restaurant's website.
