When we last spoke with Dream Earth Bowls’ founder Ashley Yamamoto, business was booming at the company’s Sarasota Farmers Market stand. But starting tomorrow, smoothie bowl-fanatics will no longer have to wait until Saturday to get their fix. Dream Earth Bowls is opening its first shop in Broadway Promenade, near downtown Sarasota.   

“We've built a beautiful storefront,” says Yamamoto. “We have also hired a full team of Dream Team members, as we like to call them.” 

The smoothie bowl shop’s mission is to provide healthy food for the community. You'll find smoothie bowls, traditional smoothies, toasts and teas on the menu, without added sugars, artificial preservatives colorants, and trans fats.

“All of our menu items are minimal and nutrient-packed,” Yamamoto explains. “We wanted to keep going with that theme, so we added in some new bowls, some new smoothies, and toast. It's all meant to give the customer that nutrient-dense meal with simple ingredients. It's completely transparent.”

The most popular menu item is the classic Dream Earth Acai bowl. It's jam-packed with good-for-you stuff—acai, granola, banana. Add on some shredded coconut for a little added sweetness and texture. 

For those with a sweet tooth, like herself, Yamamoto recommends the Cocoa Lovers smoothie. She likens this drink to a healthy chocolate ice cream, filled with banana, peanut butter and cacao nibs.  

Yamamoto is excited for the next step in Dream Earth Bowls’ journey. “We started doing the farmer's market in downtown Sarasota a few months ago,” she says. “Everybody in the area was so positive and so friendly. We grew an attachment to the community. We already wanted to open a store and it just sort of clicked that we wanted to have it in the downtown area, where we were already building our relationship with the community. Once we found this spot, about five minutes away from the market, we were like, 'Okay. This is it. This is the next step.'"

Tomorrow, April 29, Dream Earth Bowls will be kicking off its grand opening with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Expect to be welcomed by relaxing, earthy tones, plants and a “dream wall,” which houses customer’s notes detailing their own dreams and ambitions. The first 20 customers will receive a complimentary coconut bowl and spoon set. 

And for all of the farmers market lovers out there, fear not. Dream Earth Bowls will still be visiting its regular market locations.
