DeSantis Directs Restaurants, Fitness Centers to Close

Restaurants are able to keep kitchens open to provide take-out and delivery.

Gov. Ron DeSantis today issued an executive order directing that all restaurants and food establishments suspend on-premises food and alcohol consumption for their customers. However, those establishments are able to keep their kitchens open in order to provide dining or take-out services. Alcohol sales to go with food that is pick-up or delivered will be permitted and I.D. will be required for delivery orders that include alcohol.

Additionally, the governor's executive order directs gymnasiums and fitness centers in the state to close to protect public health, safety and welfare and prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has so far claimed the lives of 10 Floridians.

The executive order expands on a previous directive for bars and nightclubs in the state to close and for restaurants to limit dine-in service to half capacity.

This is a developing story, stay tuned for more.
