Supporters of the Sarasota County referendum that would fund the extension of the Legacy Trail northward to downtown Sarasota are holding a kickoff party for the effort from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the Art Ovation, 1255 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota. If approved by Sarasota County voters this fall, the referendum would provide $65 million in funding for the acquisition of additional railway, as well construction of the trail.
