Brick's Barbecue Egg Sandwich

Brick’s has come up with a big, two-hands comfort-food breakfast sandwich made to be enjoyed while browsing Sarasota downtown farmer’s market. In between a rich brioche bun are layers of pulled pork, bacon, scrambled eggs, lettuce, tomato, pickled onions (house-made) and a side of signature barbecue sauce. $6.95. Only available on Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.  

Lila's Vegetarian Breakfast Sandwich

A delicious vegetarian option for a hand-held breakfast is at Lila. This one is an open-face Scandinavian style of preparation. A thick slab of house-made toasted Danish rye bread is layered with smashed avocado seasoned with salt and lime and then topped (or on the side) with house-made pickled onion and radish. Tangy, creamy, crunchy and refreshing. $11. 

Metro Diner's Frisco Sandwich

A straight-up American classic is the Frisco breakfast sandwich at The Metro Diner. Between two pieces of grilled fresh sourdough bread are grilled deli ham, scrambled egg and melted cheddar cheese. This one will leave you satisfied well into lunchtime. $6.49. 

Michelle's Brown Bag Cafe's Egg Sandwich

At Michelle’s Brown Bag Cafe, the ambiance is super casual and you can get a breakfast egg sandwich all day—your choice of a wrap, bagel or toast. A consistently popular filling evokes a Mediterranean eye-opener; it’s egg, feta cheese, mushrooms and sundried tomato. $5.95. Sun Garden Cafe's Bikini Bagel

For something unusual while vacationing on Siesta Key, you want a breakfast sandwich specialty at Sun Garden Cafe. Between two halves of a multigrain bagel are turkey sausage, avocado, dried figs, tomato and sprouts, moistened and held together with egg and basil pesto. It’s called the Bikini Bagel and promises to be both healthy and hearty at $9.95.
