Sarasota's Municipal Auditorium

The City of Sarasota was recently awarded a $500,000 historic preservation grant from the State of Florida for planned capital improvements to the city's Municipal Auditorium, located at 801 N. Tamiami Trail. The improvements are intended to maintain the historic integrity of the facility. The grant, awarded by the Department of State, requires a $279,000 match by the City. The total project cost will be $779,000. The grant will cover the following costs: restoration of 18 windows, new exterior metal doors, rehabilitation of the existing restrooms, reconstructing four flat roofs, repairing existing water damage and waterproofing the glass block.
