The American economy added 178,000 new jobs and the country's unemployment rate declined to 4.6 percent during the month of November, according to new U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers released Friday. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points, and the number of unemployed persons declined by 387,000 to 7.4 million. Average hourly earnings for all employees declined by 3 cents to $25.89, following an 11-cent increase in October. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.5 percent.
