New College of Florida has unveiled plans to erect a statue of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on its Sarasota campus, citing donor interest and requests from members of its community. The privately funded monument is slated for completion by the end of 2025, though its final location on campus has not been selected.

It is not clear who the donors are, or whether support came from alumni, the general public, the board of trustees or faculty. The approval process, the cost and the artist and how they will be chosen were not revealed at this time.

The announcement coincides with the launch of New College’s 2025–2026 Socratic Stage series, a public debate and lecture program. The first event, “Truth, Bias, and Power: How the Transformation of America’s Media is Reshaping Society,” scheduled for Sept. 23, will feature an all-conservative lineup: Scott Atlas, Chanel Rion, Ben Domenech and Mollie Hemingway.

Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA and owned a Longboat Key condo, was fatally shot during a public appearance at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 while participating in a series of campus debates called "The American Comeback Tour."

New College is not alone in moving to memorialize Kirk with a statue. In Utah, a petition and fundraising effort is underway to erect a memorial statue on or near Utah Valley University, the site of Kirk’s murder. In Texas, North Texas Representative Jeff Leach has pledged to file legislation during the 2027 legislative session to establish a Charlie Kirk monument on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol in Austin.

These efforts are part of a broader wave of memorials, vigils and proposed public monuments that have followed Kirk’s death.
