When senior intelligence analyst Chris Davis transitioned from a government-issue work wardrobe after seven tours in the U.S. Army to the myriad possibilities of civilian attire as Goodwill Manasota’s Veteran GoodPartner Coach, the decisions on what to wear were overwhelming. Now Chris is armed with a new sense of style as he embarks on his latest mission, helping veterans achieve self-sufficiency.

CHRIS’ GOAL “I wanted an easy medium between case management work in the field and business casual. Even more important, I want to feel comfortable in styles that allow me to transition from military dress—one suit for everyone—to something classic and contemporary.”

JACKIE’S GOAL “Chris’ day varies from business meetings and fund raisers to case work, so his work attire needs to be flexible. Creating his business casual wardrobe is the combination of flat-front dress pants, a classic dress shirt and a great-fitting jacket.

The jacket, with its windowpane pattern, instantly amps up his style while the deep navy color and woven texture of the pant play against the pattern of the jacket. Having a patterned jacket in your wardrobe is a plus because it provides options for wearing different colored and patterned trousers and shirts. Chris can shed the jacket when needed and still feel put together because he has the classic business look and the right accessories.

Up-to-date and good-condition accessories are a must; tattered belts and beat-up shoes drag your style down. I added a belt and a contemporary pair of loafer-style shoes with gun-metal details to add polish. “

CHRIS’ TAKE “Everything I tried on was amazing; the jacket, pants and shoes made me comfortable and provided an instant boost.”
