Center Point is a growing shopping center located on University Parkway in Lakewood Ranch, and it's already set to become home to a new Owen's Fish Camp and to Olivia, a second location of an Italian restaurant in Tampa. Now Casto, the development firm behind Center Point, has announced that Ruth's Chris Steak House will also join the shopping center, with plans for the steakhouse chain to open next year.

Ruth's Chris has been part of Sarasota's meat scene for years, with a bustling location on the south Trail. The first Ruth's Chris was opened in New Orleans in 1965 and the company went public in 2005. It now has more than 150 locations worldwide. The restaurant is, of course, best known for its steaks, which are broiled in a broiler set to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit and served on a heated 500-degree plate.

Construction on the new 6,500-square-foot Ruth's Chris will begin later this year at 6490 University Parkway, Sarasota. Current plans call for the restaurant to open in the first half of 2023.
