Architecture Sarasota believes in the power of design to reimagine communities and strengthen the connections between people and the places they live, work, and gather. The organization’s mission is to steward the legacy of the Sarasota School of Architecture and provide a forum for the education, advocacy, and celebration of good design in the global built environment. Architecture Sarasota meets this mission by engaging residents and experts and collaborating with local, national, and global partners.
The organization offers a wide array of informative programs and spearheads transformative research that addresses the critical issues impacting our built environment today from attainable housing to the effects of a changing climate. Each November since 2014, Architecture Sarasota hosts Sarasota MOD Weekend, a celebration of the Sarasota School of Architecture and environmentally responsive, experimental, and inclusive design. In March 2024, with input from residents and others who care about our community, the organization unveiled the Moderns That Matter: Sarasota 100 – a list of the iconic and everyday places and spaces that give Sarasota its sense of place and character.
