The Sarasota Architectural Foundation on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon hosts a docent-led tour of the iconic 1953 Umbrella House in Lido Shores, which many consider the finest example of famed architect Paul Rudolph’s work in the heyday of the Sarasota School of Architecture. The original wooden shade “umbrella,” which fell victim to a windstorm several decades ago, was replaced last year with an aluminum version. Greg Wall, the architect responsible for the restoration, earned a Florida Trust for Historic Preservation award this year for his work on the project. The 12 remaining townhomes in downtown Sarasota’s contemporary Q development at 1750 Ringling Blvd. are now exclusively being marketed by Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. Eleven of the townhomes, representing approximately $9 million in new inventory, are listed now. Perrone Construction will build Georgian-style custom residences in the new Parkstone Estates enclave of The Concession in partnership with Clifford M. Scholz Architects. Parkstone offers one acre-plus lots with lake and preserve views, allowing for Perrone homes to encompass an expansive 9,178 square feet. Each home will have five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen, media room, three-car garage, great room and a detached loggia with a fire pit. The Concession is the 1,200-acre luxury golf course community in east Manatee County.
