Perched between the sparkling aquamarine waters of Sarasota Bay and the Florida Gulf, St. Armands Circle and its winding, looping, palm-laden sidewalks shine brightest on summer days. With world-class shopping at every corner, the area’s best alfresco dining hot spots, and the indulgent aroma of waffle cones wafting from air-conditioned ice cream shops, there’s no better setting for an unforgettable summertime adventure.

This summer, more than ever, there exists a universal draw to come together, return to the joys of the past, and set sail into the future. In that spirit and in full embrace of summertime vibes, St. Armands Circle will kick off a new summer happening series from June through September: Sol of the Circle.

Sol of the Circle invites locals and tourists alike to immerse themselves and enjoy distinct, reccurring monthly happenings and a new arts-focused event scheduled for September 18. The Sol of the Circle summer series will last from June to September 2021 and is expected to include:

• Songs on the Circle – Every First Tuesday of the Month, 6–9 p.m.
• Breathe: An Outdoor Yoga Series – Every Second Wednesday of the Month, 6–7 p.m.
• St. Armands Family Day – Every Last Sunday of the Month, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
• Sarasota Arts LIVE – September 18

Songs on the Circle, which is scheduled for July 6, Aug. 3, and Sept. 7, brings a collection of nearly a dozen local musicians to the bustling sidewalks of the Circle, each setting up for an impromptu performance for passersby, shoppers, and diners at each intersection of the Circle. Those strolling the Circle during the three-hour happening will be able to walk from shop to shop or stop for a bite while listening to a variety of favorite musical stylings and genres. Visitors can expect to hear classics like blues, acoustic guitar, country, R&B, and jazz. The variety of music and refreshments makes St. Armands the place to be for unforgettable summer nights.

Each second Wednesday of the month, or June 9, July 14, Aug. 11, and Sept. 8, St. Armands will host Breathe: An Outdoor Yoga Series. Enjoy a breath of fresh air and exhale deeply as you stretch, twist, and pose your way through a special yoga class on St. Armands Circle, hosted by Liana Sheintal Bryant. During this free, one-hour program, beginner to experienced yoga enthusiasts can relax and get a quick workout under the lush canopy of the Circle. Participants can join by bringing their own mat and stopping by the Circle’s inner park to meet their instructor and find blissful peace between the palms during this new community happening.

The third and final monthly Sol of the Circle program is St. Armands Family Day. This recurring happening, held on the last Sunday of each month, focuses on fun family activities and entertainment for kids and parents. The series will create kid-focused educational activities hosted at the Circle’s iconic and accessible outdoor activity spaces for the whole family to come together to learn and enjoy a night out. On June 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., experts from nearby Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium will kick off this series with a visit to St. Armands Circle and plans to host special activities and sea turtle learning sessions for kids of all ages.

Sol of the Circle will crescendo on Sept. 18 with Sarasota Arts LIVE, a one-time extraordinary ensemble of performances and immersive artist experiences, presented in partnership with the Sarasota Arts Alliance. For the event, the Sarasota Arts community will bring their talents to the main stage of St. Armands Circle. This will allow art enthusiasts and visitors to jaunt from quadrant to quadrant, taking in live painting sessions, performance art, and interactive exhibits. This family-friendly event looks to highlight the very best of Sarasota’s vibrant art scene and feature emerging artists new to the scene.
