Amadine Louis Charles is one of Manatee ASALH's scholarship recipients.

The Manasota Branch of ASALH, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, provided a record $60,000 in scholarships to 24 high-achieving students for the 2020-2021 academic year. Most students will be attending Florida colleges. The recipients were: Amadine Louis Charles, Flore Myrthil,  Dieuvaney Jean, Kerry Carr, Christopher Holmes, Darriel Brookins, Kaylee Cumbo, Demetrius Bedline, Aaliyah Brown, Jalea Dennis, Cassie Dalrymple, Benja Mya Coney,  Di’Ria Gatheright,  Benea Mays, Jalea Nixon, Fatima Demlak, Valerie Stafford, Danielle Tatum, Romagnoly Charles, Satauri Flemming. The Manasota chapter of ASALH is the largest in the nation, with 375 members, and has provided $430,000 in scholarships to 240 students since it launched in 2000.
