The number of new residential construction projects dropped by 12.3 percent between May and June, according to new numbers released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The rate of housing starts in June was 4.2 percent lower than it was in June 2017. Housing starts dropped in every region of the U.S., according to the data, most significantly in the Midwest.
