Florida Among Top 10 American States With the Longest Working Hours

A new study reveals that Florida has the fourth-highest average hours worked in the nation.

Presented by Tyler Wright December 9, 2025

The research by global executive search firm Keller analyzed hours worked across U.S. states between 2022 and 2024, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Average hours worked across the three years were calculated to identify the states where Americans work the longest.

Florida ranks fourth with an average of 114.47 hours worked each year between 2022 and 2024. The Sunshine State reported 111.64 hours in 2022, 114.18 in 2023, and 117.58 in 2024.

Looking at the study, a spokesperson from Keller commented,

“Florida’s economy, driven by tourism, healthcare, and real estate, sees significant labor demands. Seasonal spikes and an expanding retiree population needing services contribute to the Sunshine State’s higher-than-average working hours.”
