While many lawyers focus on regional or state legal practices, professionals like Russell Nicolet seek national training experience. By learning from mentors and adversaries and expanding his knowledge of the nation’s laws, Nicolet leverages a unique training experience to create better outcomes for his clients. Determined to help all those he can, he dedicates himself to constant improvement.
Beginning a Journey in Law
Inspired to support others through difficult circumstances, Nicolet found an early direction toward law. As the first member of his family to take this path, his education was the first challenge along the way. Despite being met with uncertainty, Nicolet stayed true to his ambitions and pushed forward to a career in law.
“I didn’t know what to expect,” Nicolet shared. “I didn’t really know how to make it all work. I just went for it, and then did the same when I started my own law office.”

Founding a Law Practice
Nicolet founded his practice on his own, without a family name in the industry or a professional history, but determination drove him to find success. He sought out mentors and spent hours in the Washington County Law Library to ensure that he effectively handled cases for his clients. Nicolet obsessed over his clients’ problems and their story, and made it his mission to make a difference in their lives.
“The big thing I did to overcome these obstacles was just to continuously work at getting more knowledgeable and getting better,” Nicolet explained.
Finding Greater Experience
As Nicolet found success in his career, he eventually found his specialty in personal injury law. In refining his expertise, however, the pool of attorneys he could learn from got smaller and smaller. When Nicolet found there were few people he could still learn from, he realized he needed to expand his learning beyond Wisconsin and Minnesota.
“I started learning and training with some of the best injury law attorneys in the world by going to other states to listen to them speak, watch them work, and train with them,” Nicolet said. “I have been to Florida, Georgia, New York, and California several times to learn from the best of the best of trial lawyers.”
Eager to apply new knowledge, Nicolet began to grow his practice from a one person law office to a multi-state one. Today, Nicolet Law maintains offices in three states, each with dozens of employees. For his legal expertise, Nicolet has been named among the Top 40 under 40 Trial Lawyers and the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association, and was recognized as a SuperLawyer by SuperLawyers Magazine.

Relying on a wealth of experience, Nicolet is building toward a better legal future for the people.
