After a hugely successful 23-year run in charge of the New England Patriots, during which teaming up with star quarterback Tom Brady he helped the team to six Super Bowl triumphs, Bill Belichick moved into the college football space, joining the North Carolina Tar Heels last December and now there is growing speculation that a move back to the NFL.
Talk of a move to take over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is growing, even though the Floridian team has a coach and Belichick has a job in North Carolina; however, there is seemingly no smoke without fire.
Fans of Tampa Bay, who have secured three successive postseason finishes under Todd Bowles, who want to back the Buccaneers to go deeper into the playoffs, can make a wager to that effect with the help of all the insights into the best online sportsbooks around at Sportsline. Having this level of insight can certainly help NFL fans make the most of any bet they place, so it’s well worth taking a closer look before you tie yourself down to a betting provider.
Among those who are of the opinion that a move to bring in Belichick to replace Bowles at the Raymond James Stadium is Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, who has come up with an intricate series of events that he feels could see the veteran coach make the move to Tampa.
Firstly, he spoke of a report that Tar Heels general manager Mike Lombardi was stating his belief that Bowles was considering retirement, which started the whole ball rolling.
"So why would Lombardi be trying to speak a vacancy into existence? Maybe because that’s one of the jobs Belichick would want,"
"Even with all of the craziness that has happened of late, the Bucs can’t be ruled out as a potential destination for Belichick."
“Allow me to weave my fan fiction. Belichick’s consigliere Mike Lombardi, who is basically his unofficial mouthpiece, has been very quiet since all of the [Belichick’s girlfriend] Jordon Hudson stuff hit the fan,"
"Lombardi wouldn’t shut up until this Hudson stuff happens, and now you can’t find him anywhere. But he was putting out this idea that Todd Bowles would retire, possibly after the 2024 season. ... So I feel like Belichick has been eyeballing the Bucs. Maybe Lombardi was trying to speak it into existence that there’d be a vacancy there, because that’s one of the teams where they’ve got the talent Belichick needs." Florio concluded.
It’s something of a long shot, but it’s led to further reports elsewhere. Belichick is currently in the news for all sorts of other reasons, usually in relation to his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
It should also be remembered, that for all his success at the Patriots, things didn't pan out well from the moment Brady left for the Buccaneers, with New England only making it to the postseason in two of his last five seasons in charge, during which they failed to win a single playoff game.
