Big changes are underway at Bobby Jones Golf Club and those changes might affect where you're getting your chicken wings and fried fish. G's Southern Kitchen, the terrific restaurant located inside the golf course's clubhouse, is leaving the facility, with plans to operate as a pop-up.

The City of Sarasota is in the middle of overhauling the Bobby Jones course by renovating 27 of the course's holes and converting 50 acres into parkland. The clubhouse, tennis courts, cart barn and starter booth are all set to be razed "very soon," according to the city's senior communications manager, Jan Thornburg. That leaves G's without a home after Saturday, March 20.

G's owner and chef Gordon Gregory says he hopes to schedule pop-up events to take place in two weeks or so, but that "plans are up in the air." Gregory is considering moving G's into a food trailer; he says breweries have already reached out about possibly hosting him.

Going mobile wouldn't represent a major shift for Gregory, who ran G's as a catering company for years before opening at Bobby Jones in June 2019. He says the restaurant may also eventually find a permanent home.

"We're trying to dive into all of our possibilities," says Gregory. In the meantime, follow G's on Facebook or Instagram to get the latest info on where you can find Gregory's food.
