6 Local Family-Friendly Easter Activities

Here's where to hunt eggs, eat brunch, and see the Easter Bunny in our area.

Between opening baskets and carving the ham, there are plenty of exciting Easter festivities around town to enjoy. Here's a sampling.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens’ March 25 Jungle Trails & Bunny Tails provides a family-friendly experience featuring pony rides, a petting zoo, an egg hunt with 20,000 candy-filled goodies, and more. Guests should bring their own baskets for the hunt and purchase tickets via Sarasota Jungle Gardens’ website. Tickets are $17.99 for adults, $6.50 for kids 4-16, and free for children 3 and under. North Port’s egg hunts allow for a different experience for older and younger kids. Children ages 7-11 can partake in a flashlight egg hunt at 7:30 p.m. March 25. Kids should bring a basket, a flashlight, and be ready to hunt for 5000 glow-in-the-dark eggs. The following day, March 26, at 10 a.m. kids ages 3-11 can partake in a morning egg hunt that’s separated by age group. Both events take place outside of North Port’s city hall. Siesta Key’s 15th Annual Egg Hunt & Games is catered specifically to children ages 1-6. The event is held March 26 and includes an egg hunt, games with prizes, face painting, and an ambulance and fire truck to explore. Attendance requires a $10 fee per child and a registration form which can be found, along with more information, on Siesta Key Village association’s website.

Venice provides its own egg hunt opportunity in the Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza. The event occurs March 26 9 a.m.-11 a.m. with no admission cost at the Gazebo in downtown Venice. More information: (941) 484-6742.

On the actual holiday, locals can attend an Easter brunch and family egg hunt at Selby Gardens. There are two meals, one beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the other at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $75 for guests, $50 for Selby Garden members, $25 for children ages 4-11, and free for children under 3. And for a whole Easter weekend experience, The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota offers three days of festivities, including egg decorating, a scavenger hunt, a water balloon toss, petting zoo, photo op with the Easter Bunny and a luxurious brunch. For more information and reservations call, (941) 309-2000.
