The Show Must Go On

So many of us had tickets to shows this season.

Presented by Sarasota Magazine March 23, 2020

So many of us had tickets to shows this season. I know my husband and I were really looking forward to Come from Away at Van Wezel and Lifespan of a Fact at Asolo Rep. But alas, all performances have been canceled until further notice.

  • Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has already begun rescheduling shows. Patrons who wish to attend the rescheduled performances should keep their tickets, which will be honored for the new performance dates. Go to their website or Facebook page for more information.
  • While Asolo Repertory Theatre cannot reschedule this year’s performances, the complete 2020-2021 season will be announced soon. Go to their website and sign up to receive emails to be the first to know.
  • Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe has canceled their performances until further notice. The annual April Fools’ Fete has been rescheduled to May 18.
  • While the remainder of Sarasota Opera’s season has been canceled, the show must go on and they continue to entertain. Follow them on Facebook for extemporaneous solos from the rooftop and ways for you to get involved in the fun. #suddenlyopera

If you are able, consider your ticket purchase a donation or ask for the money to be used towards a future performance. It’s critical we help these organizations that have shaped the culture of Sarasota-Manatee. And don’t forget about the Giving Challenge April 28-29. Most local arts groups are participating and really need your support. We’re all in this together!
