For the second year in a row, Sarasota has been named "Best Place to Retire in the U.S.," according to U.S. News & World Report. The list ranks the country’s 150 most populous metropolitan areas based on how well they meet Americans' expectations for retirement, with measures including housing affordability, health care and overall happiness.

In general, Florida dominated the annual "Best Places to Retire" list, with Naples No. 2, Daytona Beach No. 3, Melbourne No. 4, Tampa No. 6, Fort Myers/Cape Coral No. 7, Port St. Lucie No. 8, Pensacola No. 10, Lakeland No. 12, Ocala No. 16 and Orlando No. 18.

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report also ranked Sarasota as the No. 9 Best Place to Live, No. 2 among Fastest-Growing Places in the U.S., and No. 5 on the list of Safest Places to Live in the U.S.
