The School Board of Manatee County on Monday approved a mask mandate for district schools. The mandate will require students, employees and adults on campus to wear a mask, and will remain in place until Wednesday, Aug. 25. Parents, however, will be able to opt out of the mandate for their children. Employees will also have the choice to opt out.

The requirements for opt-out eligibility are not listed, but the choice is allowed under an emergency rule adopted by the Florida Department of Health.
