Area philanthropists have come together to offer a $600,000 matching opportunity for All Faiths Food Bank to help fund hunger relief in the community. In response to a significant increase in need due to the economic impacts of the coronavirus, a $500,000 match has been provided from the Joe and Mary Kay Henson Family Fund. An anonymous donor from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County was inspired to give an additional $100,000, increasing the total to $600,000. The match became available August 1; All Faiths has launched a major fundraising and social media effort to raise awareness of the need and promote the match.

Since the pandemic ramped up in March, All Faiths has seen an overall increase in need of approximately 120 percent, with new clients increasing nearly 45 percent. The organization says the demand for food will remain critically high for a long time to come as people continue to face significant financial strain. For more information, click here.
