Sarasota artist Alexis Fraser—aka Lipstick Lex—has launched a new charity called Kisses for a Cause. The organization was initially created to promote the arts and spread positivity through cultural and educational programs, experiences and community outreach initiatives; however, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, its focus has temporarily shifted. In collaboration with the Tampa-based Women Ambassadors Forum and 1Light Daring Leadership & Facilitation, Kisses for a Cause is curating community kits containing items such as gift cards and coupons, non-perishable food items, at-home activities for families, and health and wellness products. The project is affectionately named after one of Lex’s creations, Made with Love, which hangs in her Rosemary District gallery and will adorn the exterior façade of the community kits. The goal of the Made with Love Project is to aid the community while driving economic impact through creative partnerships with local businesses; Kisses for a Cause hopes to provide more than 7,5000 kits to struggling local families in June 2020.
