Gov. Ron DeSantis last week issued executive order 20-104, which suspends the biweekly “actively seeking work” reporting requirement by those claiming unemployment. The order adds that the suspension is on an emergency temporary basis, as needed to respond to the spread of COVID-19. The order comes on the heels of the news that the U.S. unemployment rate rose to an unprecedented 8.2 percent this week, with the number of people seeking unemployment spiked to more than 22 million.
