Sarasota daredevil Nik Wallenda—who has previously completed tightrope walks across Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, New York City and downtown Sarasota—announced today that his next highwire act will be over the active Masaya volcano in Nicaragua. Located about 20 kilometers south of Managua, Nicaragua's capital city, the 2,500-year-old Masaya volcano is part of the Central American Volcanic Belt and last erupted in January 2016. In an Instagram post this morning, Wallenda called the volcano walk "his most dangerous stunt yet," and announced that he plans to document his prep work for it on social media. The event will be aired nationwide on ABC on March 4, 2020.
