Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico

The state of Florida and the federal government last week finalized details of an agreement for the federal government to help the state pay for assisting Puerto Ricans displaced by the damage caused by Hurricane Maria. The agreement calls for the federal government to fully reimburse the state for sheltering and otherwise assisting Puerto Ricans who have left the island. The state has opened three Hurricane Maria disaster relief centers—two in Miami and one in Orlando. As many as 100,000 Puerto Ricans are expected to move to Florida because of the disaster.
