City's Climate Change Plan to Be Discussed Tuesday

The city has projected that global warming could raise daily high temperatures by as much as 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit by 2050.

The City of Sarasota is holding a community meeting about its new climate adaptation plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St., Sarasota. The meeting will focus on climate change projections the city is relying on to guide planning, as well as strategies that could make Sarasota more resilient to climate change. Using National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data, the city has projected that global warming could raise daily high temperatures by as much as 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit by 2050, while lows may increase by 7.2 degrees.
