These concrete spheres along the water’s edge at Bird Key Park function as a barricade, but they also draw the passerby’s eye to the bayfront activities taking place, from kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding and boating to biking, jogging and walking. Illustrator John Pirman says the sight of them always hits him “like an unexpected pleasure.”
