Toasted Mango’s Turkey Wrap (Kathryn Brass)The Place

Toasted Mango Café, 430 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, (941) 388-7728, toastedmangocafe.com. A new, clean space with the feel of a neighborhood diner, right down to the bar and the friendly buzz. There are also cozy inside tables and a nifty little oak-shaded brick patio facing Fifth Street.

The People

A mix of neighborhood folks and downtown workers, including artists, executives and even a few society folks.

Time Factor

Service is fast and efficient, but this is a popular joint. Parking is at a premium (lots of folks park on Fifth Street), and there’s a chance you’ll wait briefly for a table. You might want to budget at least 45 minutes, fewer if you snag a seat at the bar.

The Food

An exciting and varied menu of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, soups and salads features everything from a traditional club to a turkey burger (both $8.99) to crab salad ($10.99) and even a Thai vegetable stir fry wrap ($8.99). You’ll also want to take good note of the hearty breakfast options—already popular around town—that span omelets, pancakes, oatmeal, corned beef hash ($8.99) and eggs Benedict ($10.99).
