Sarasota Memorial Hospital was recently named a Center of Excellence for hip and knee replacement by DNV GL Healthcare, a hospital accrediting organization. The certification recognizes the hospital's excellence in orthopedic surgery within the scope of hip and knee replacement and related procedures. The certification process included a recent site visit from a DNV GL surveyor and a comprehensive review of Sarasota Memorial’s procedures, quality indicators and patient outcomes, ranging from mortality and readmission rates to prevention of surgical infections and complications. Patient education and pain management were also assessed.
